    Solar

From FIT to Micro-FIT, Lennox & Addington County has it. We have access to a robust network of experienced, local companies involved in design and installation of solar energy systems. Also, 8 proposed solar parks totaling 80 MW are scheduled within our borders, and more than 200 MW will be constructed within 200 miles of L&A. Now that's proximity to markets.

  • Workforce

    Workforce

Our workforce is one of our most significant competitive advantages. Several of our construction companies, private contractors, and machining & fabricating businesses have already gained valuable experience working in the alternative energy sector. Lennox & Addington is home to 40,540 people, but we're central to a population of over 300,000 and a labour force of over 220,000. In fact, L&A is part of the largest labour catchment area in Eastern Ontario – outside of Ottawa.

Our educators and researchers encourage attention to energy. Nearby colleges and universities offer technician and engineering programs focused on renewable energy, so you won’t need to look far to find what you’re searching for. There’s also a strong research & technology presence in our region, including labs that emphasize renewables, and organizations that deal specifically with the advancement of green technologies.

    Wind

Lennox & Addington County is getting attention from wind energy heavyweights. The 187 MW Wolfe Island Wind Project is right next door to L&A and our local companies have had a hand in its completion. Two off shore wind projects – Trillium Wind Power (420 MW) and Wolfe Island Shoal (300 MW) – are proposed within close proximity of our borders. And, another 503 MW of proposed wind projects are projected within 120 miles of here. The winds of change are blowing in Eastern Ontario, and L&A is in the middle of it.
